Everyone has been dancing around the whispers of “Les Otten” and “the failure of American Ski Company”, hesitant to engage, or really hammer him on the subject.  Well – maybe not everyone – but the …

Thank You To Our Candidate Veterans

Thank You To Our Candidate Veterans

Happy Veterans Day, everyone.  Pine Tree Politics would like to take a few moments to specifically thank Matt Jacobson, Peter Mills, and Steve Rowe for their service to our country.

Jacobson is a graduate of the Naval Academy and served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force.  Mills served in the U.S. Navy, and Rowe is a product of the U.S. Army.

(These three were the three candidates I could find information about serving our country – if any of the other candidates have military service, please let me know and I will amend this article to reflect that)

I will let them tell you about their service in their own words (sort of):

Matt Jacobson

(From Jacobson’s Website)

“Matt is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy (1984) and holds an MBA from Chapman University (1992).  He was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Matt has over 3,000 hours of flight time, primarily in command of the C-130 Hercules. In addition to being an aircraft commander, he was an instructor and evaluator pilot. Jacobson received an honorable discharge from active duty in April 1991. From 1991-1993 he served in the Air Force active reserve. He received an honorable discharge from reserve duty in March 2000.”

Peter Mills

(From Mills’ Wikipedia article)

“After graduating from Harvard College in 1965, he served five years on Navy destroyers with several duty tours to the Vietnam gunline for which he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal. He later conducted intelligence missions against the Soviets for which he was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal.”

Steve Rowe

(From Rowe’s Website)

“After graduating from West Point, Steve served as an active duty Army officer for more than six years. He served in leadership positions in Infantry units, as well as in logistical and financial management units. Steve’s duty stations included Wiesbaden, Germany, Fort Carson, Colorado and Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After leaving active military service, Steve continued to serve for several years as an Army Reserve officer in Maine.”

Update:

In my post earlier today, I neglected to mention the service to our country by second congressional district candidate Jason Levesque.  I originally only pointed out the service from the gubernatorial candidates, but I would like to add Jason to the list here.

Jason Levesque

Levesque started college at West Virginia Wesleyan University but left after several semesters to enlist in the United States Army. He served in the First Infantry Division and earned the highly-prized Expert Infantry designation. His leadership abilities were first noticed by superior officers who elevated him in rank and responsibilities as an Infantry Team Leader. Upon discharge, he served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves, including several extended tours of duty as a Drill Sergeant at Fort Leonard Woods, MO.
